ARVets, a statewide comprehensive non-profit for veteran services, announced today that founding CEO Nicole Hart will leave the organization after six years at the helm.

“When I started ARVets, it was my intent to build a non-profit that would strengthen the veteran support network in Arkansas,” Hart said. “Over six years, we have built hundreds of partnerships, brought new resources to the veteran community, and been able to watch veteran families lead better lives as a result. It has been an honor to serve my country in uniform, serve our state as part of the Beebe administration, and now to help bring ARVets to life.”

Under Hart’s leadership, ARVets has brought in more than $5 million for services in the veteran community, directly helping more than 6,000 individual veterans and veteran families, and impacting 30,000 of the state’s 250,000 veterans through partnerships. ARVets has created Arkansas’s first signature black-tie event celebrating the veteran community and its supporters, the Salute Gala, as well as the Love our Heroes Luncheon, which provides free lunch for military, veterans and their families, and the PTSD 5k Run, bringing awareness to the ongoing battle veterans fight against Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

The ARVets Board of Directors is reviewing applicants to succeed Hart as CEO. Don Berry, a retired colonel and respected veterans advocate, will serve as interim CEO until the Board completes its selection process.

“Veterans all across Arkansas are living much better lives today because of the incredible efforts Nicole Hart has led over the past many years. Nicole’s contributions to ARVets have set the foundation for an even brighter future for veterans all across Arkansas,” Jeff Amerine, ARVets Chairman of the Board relayed. We look forward to working with an outstanding interim CEO, Don Berry, Colonel, USAF (ret.), to keep the momentum going as the search for a permanent Chief Executive Officer begins,” said Amerine.
